Vacancy [1]: AI Research Trainee (Reinforcement Learning)

Overview: The Health Informatics Lab (HI-Lab) invites applications for an intensive AI Research Traineeship in Reinforcement Learning, designed to bridge the gap between classroom theory and hands-on research. The Trainee will progress through a structured research trajectory focused on Reinforcement Learning for health informatics, supported by mathematical foundations and real world projects.

Requirements:

  • Academic: Currently enrolled undergraduate student (Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related disciplines).
  • Mathematical Foundations: Strong understanding of linear algebra, calculus, probability, and statistics.
  • Technical: Strong Python programming skills; familiarity with RL frameworks (PyTorch, Gym Environment); basic knowledge of Machine Learning and Deep Learning.
  • Soft Skills: Strong communication skills and aptitude for collaborative research environments.

Key Responsibilities & Focus Areas

  • Hands-on Reinforcement Learning projects in the context of Nepal
  • Literature review and critical analysis of relevant research papers to identify gaps in healthcare AI.
  • Training, evaluation, and optimization of reinforcement  learning models.
  • Preparation of technical documentation, including reports, drafts, and presentations.
  • Active engagement with fellow trainees and senior researchers.
